Cordovan Italian
We've been producing Italian Queens since the 30s, however, our Cordovan breeding project began in approximately 1975. Our Italians have been exclusively light-colored Cordovans ever since. They have many fine qualities: the queens are very prolific, known for their rapid spring buildup, and they are very gentle. Two-thirds of our production is the Cordovan. Our customers are generally very pleased. |

Carniolan
At the request of beekeepers in colder climates of the northern states, we also produce the Carniolan cross. Our Carniolan breeders are mated in an isolated area and observed for a year prior to use in our breeding program. The Carniolan virgins are mated with our Italian drones, resulting in an excellent mix of both Italian and Carniolan traits which many customers prefer. |

We ship all queens UPS Next Day Air. |
2008 Shipping cost is $22.00 per box for 1-8 queens, $25.00 per box for 9-28 queens, or $33.00 per box for 29-104 queens. These shipping costs reflect queens shipped in California Mini Queencages (our standard method of shipping queens). For shipments of queens with attendants, price may be slightly higher. The above rates do not apply to queen shipments going to Alaska--call for details on Alaskan shipment pricing.
Shipping via the U.S. Postal Service is available on a limited basis, at the discretion of Koehnen staff, and only for orders of 8 or fewer Queens.

11 day Queen Cells are available for pickup only. They are ready as early as 6:00am and will hatch at approximately noon the same day.
